Nick Faldo

Nicholas or “Nick” Alexander Faldo is a famous English golfer and one of the leading players of Europe of the European Tour. Ranked as number one on the Official World Golf Ranking for a stretch of 98 weeks, Nick Faldo has been the winner of three titles of Open Championship and three titles of US Masters.

Born in England’s Welwyn Garden City, this famous golfer borrowed few clubs from the neighbors after he watched Jack Nicklaus playing the Masters in 1971. Nick Faldo was declared the winner of the British Youths Championship and the English Amateur Championship in 1975 during his career of a carpet fitter. He started his career as a professional golfer and was successful in no time by finishing 8th in 1977 and 3rd in the year 1978 at the European Tour Order of Merit and also being the winner of an event organized by a European Tour in all those seasons. When he was 21 he was the youngest player playing for the Ryder Cup. In the 1980s Nick Faldo remained one of the top golfers and was the topper at the Order of Merit of 1983. But to make himself for capable he took golf lessons from David Leadbetter. His performances were hampered for few years for these changes but he emerged as a more successful player by 1987 and got his first important title at the 1987 Open Championship.

During the later half of the 1980s and initial years of the 1990s, Nick was believed to be the greatest golfer who won six major professional golf tournaments. In 1990 Faldo was declared the winner of the Open Championship and was the winner of the Masters Tournament for 1989 as well as 1990. He was awarded the title of the Player of the Year at the 1990 PGA Tour, the title of the European Tour Player of the Year for three years and was the winner of 29 titles at the European Tour. Nick Faldo was introduced in 1997 into the celebrated World Golf Hall of Fame. The popular championships won by Nick Faldo include:
